Ucluster and Kharkiv IT Cluster are announcing a partnership
Ucluster and Kharkiv IT Cluster are announcing a partnership to jointly promote and develop regional IT communities in Ukraine, starting with the leading Ukrainian IT cluster in Kharkiv.
The ucluster.org portal unites Ukrainian regional clusters of entrepreneurs, academia and local authorities. It was founded in 2007 by Sergei Sokolenko and Stanislav Sokolenko (1936-2014). Sergei is an angel investor, leads product management for Streaming Analytics at Google, and has worked in product management at Amazon and Microsoft in the past. He also founded Cuesense, a startup for text sentiment analysis.
Stanislav Sokolenko was a well-known Ukrainian economist and Chairman of the Board of Ukrimpex. While working in the 1980s at the United Nations in Austria as a senior officer responsible for technical assistance programs in India, China, and Korea, Stanislav analyzed new production systems based on networks (clusters). After returning to Ukraine, he popularized cluster formation in Ukraine and co-founded construction, textile, and tourism clusters in Khmelnitsky region.
The ucluster.org portal offers Ukrainian startups and cluster members news about startups and regional clusters both in Ukraine and abroad, as well as organizes events that bring the Ukrainian cluster community together. To investors in the United States and elsewhere, it provides insights into the growth of promising startups in Ukraine.
In the near future Ucluster LLC is planning to open a startup accelerator in Kyiv, focusing on angel investments in promising IT startups, particularly from Kharkiv and Kyiv. The company will host an annual conference for selecting technology startups for the accelerator and intends to work together with the Kharkiv IT Cluster for media support of the conference.
