Kharkiv IT Cluster met with the representatives of the Embassy of Korea in Ukraine. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine, Lee Yang Gu, visited Cluster office, learned on the IT-industry of the Region, got acquainted with organization members as well as with other Kharkiv IT-businessmen.

At the meeting Natalia Vynohradska, Executive Director of Kharkiv IT Cluster, presented the Cluster, gave the characteristics of IT-industry of Kharkiv City and impressed the Ambassador by the figures. She also introduced organization members to the Ambassador and mentioned the areas they were working at. Dmytro Yakovlev, CEO of Videal Company, described IT-ecosystem of the City in more detail. He answered the Ambassador’s questions about the interaction of the Cluster and local authorities. All the participants of Kharkiv IT Cluster and other invited Directors of successful IT-companies of the City spoke on their activity and expressed their willingness to cooperate with Korean partners.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea in Ukraine,  Lee Yang Gu, drew attention to the similarity of the political situation, the history of development of the two countries and stated that he saw great potential of Ukraine in general and Kharkiv in particular. “Your City is a research center, known by its IT-education. In Korea, our current President, Park Geun-hye, underlines the slogan “creative economy.” This means that everything depends on human resource, science and technology. I think that in these terms Kharkiv Region is a good partner for us – continued Mr. Lee Yang Gu. – We are going to invest such initiatives. For example, Kharkiv has good infrastructure and environment to implement the project of Technopark. We are interested in it. You have a wonderful base, if you properly use it, Kharkiv will become the city of the future as its Korean sister city Daejeon, the administrative center of South Chungcheong Province, the fifth largest city of the country, which is considered to be its scientific and technological capital. “Within the framework of cooperation the Ambassador does not exclude the creation of a joint accelerator for students to develop their entrepreneurial skills and start-up movement of Kharkiv Region.

The meeting participants received invitation from Korean Ambassador. He also recommended to send a business delegation from Kharkiv IT Cluster there. In our turn we look forward to our continued successful cooperation and possible launch of joint projects.
