Kharkiv IT Cluster Supported First National Cybersecurity Championship and Cyber Forum in Ukraine “Hackit – 2015”
On October 23, an important event for specialists in cybersecurity took place in Kharkiv Palace! The first National Cybersecurity Championship and Cyber Forum in Ukraine “HackIT-2015” caused a real stir.
58 people aged between 16 and 33 participated in the Olympiad. The format of the competition was CTF, which aims to estimate the players’ abilities to attack and defend computer systems. We had three winners: Denis Magda (beginners), Victor Sytnik (amateurs) and Ivan Krahmalyuk (professionals).
While the participants of the Olympiad broke into payment system created especially for the event and collected “flags”, 400 forum attendees studied new encryption standards and discussed the best ways to protect data. Speakers and experts talked about the daily cyber threats. In total 21 reports were made.
HackIT shows our potential in the field of cybersecurity. It’s necessary for Ukraine to create a professional community of experts in this field. We hope that the First National Cybersecurity Championship and Forum in Ukraine will become a good tradition of Kharkiv, and each year will inspire students and young professionals to improve their knowledge of cybersecurity. See you at “HackIT – 2016”!
