Kharkiv IT Cluster coordinates 22 DLC centers in the Kharkiv Region

In Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region, a network of digital educational centers is being developed under the coordination of  Kharkiv IT Cluster to help students gain access to continuous education, learning resources, and opportunities for professional growth.

Digital Learning Centers (DLCs) are specially equipped digital educational hubs where students can connect to дистан learning, work with digital platforms, complete educational projects, and develop modern technical competencies. In practice, these centers have become a new format of educational environment that combines online education, hands-on learning, and access to technology.

Today, 22 DLCs operate across the region, with their development coordinated by  Kharkiv IT Cluster together with partners.

For  Kharkiv IT Cluster, the development of DLCs is part of a systemic effort to strengthen the educational ecosystem of the Kharkiv region, support young people, and adapt education to the challenges of wartime.

Part of the educational infrastructure in the Kharkiv region has been damaged due to the war, while opportunities for offline learning in a frontline region have remained limited. At the same time, not all students had access to the necessary equipment or stable internet connection required for remote education.

The response to these challenges was the creation of modern digital spaces where young people can continuously continue their studies, maintain the educational process, and develop skills relevant to today’s labor market.

One of the key advantages of DLCs is their location within colleges and vocational education institutions. For educational institutions, these centers create opportunities to build a modern technological environment and improve the learning process.

“For Kharkiv IT Cluster, the development of DLCs is an investment in the resilience of the educational system in the Kharkiv region and in the future of young people. We are working to ensure that even during wartime, students have access to quality education, modern technologies, and opportunities for professional growth,” says Olha Shapoval.

At DLCs, students can:

• connect to remote classes;
• work with digital educational platforms;
• complete educational projects;
• develop digital and technical skills.

With the support of the cluster, the centers host workshops, training sessions, interactive classes, and educational events that help young people develop digital literacy, critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity. Some DLCs also use STEM education technologies, robotics, and 3D printing, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with modern technologies while still studying.

Through the development of the DLC network, the  Kharkiv IT Cluster team also supports educational institutions in career guidance activities and the promotion of modern vocational education. The centers help introduce applicants to modern professions, demonstrate technological learning opportunities, and foster young people’s interest in building careers in technology.

“DLCs have become growth points for both students and teachers. We see growing interest among young people in modern technologies, digital skills, and the professions of the future,” comments Olena Dudnyk.

Today, DLCs are becoming an important part of the educational resilience of the Kharkiv region. They help students continue their education, gain access to modern technologies, and develop the skills necessary for professional growth even during wartime.

Kharkiv IT Cluster coordinates and supports the development of 22 DLCs with the support of the Department of Education of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, in cooperation with UNICEF, Japan International Cooperation Agency, and Global Partnership for Education.
