As part of the IT4Life project, Kharkiv IT Cluster has delivered 110 body armors of protection classes 3 and 4 to the municipal services of Kharkiv — including emergency and rescue workers. This initiative is a direct response to a request from public utility companies seeking protection for their employees.

The effort was made possible thanks to the support of the Kharkiv IT Cluster community, which refuses to remain indifferent and takes action for the future of its city.

Why does this matter for Kharkiv?

The body armors were provided to municipal utility workers — electricians, water and sewage specialists, and district heating technicians. These are the people who, alongside the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, are among the first to arrive at the scenes of shelling: they clear debris, assist in evacuations, and repair damaged infrastructure.

They work under fire — often during repeated attacks. Their work is critically important for the city, yet extremely dangerous. That is why they need not only tools to do their jobs but also protection to stay safe.

Who made this happen?

All protective gear was purchased with the support of IT companies within the community: EPAM Ukraine, Sigma Software, Apiphani, Raccon Gang, h8games, AltexSoft, KnubiSoft, Sloboda Studio, Adaptavist, Upgrade Parade, Artjoker, Insoft Global, StreamTeam, ITRDev, onPoint Studio, SKALAR, IT-jim,VEC-UA, SDA, AnyforSoft, Dysnix, INSART, and National Charitable Foundation «KRONA».

The total cost of the project is about 800,000 UAH.

Each body armor delivered through the initiative features a custom patch from Kharkiv IT Cluster and IT4Life with the inscription “Guardians of Victory.” This serves as a symbol of gratitude and recognition for those who risk their lives daily to save and protect the city.

This case exemplifies the power of collaboration — and stands as a testament to the maturity and responsibility of the Kharkiv IT community.
