For the restaurant industry, the reliable operation of digital infrastructure is essential to day-to-day business operations. The availability of online services directly affects customers’ ability to place orders and interact with a company. That is why businesses need not only to ensure the stable operation of their IT systems but also to plan for potential technical disruptions.

This was the challenge brought to Kharkiv IT Cluster by a Ukrainian company in the restaurant industry that operates a chain of restaurants and a delivery service.

The request was handled within BusinessLink — a navigation project by Kharkiv IT Cluster that helps entrepreneurs find the resources, experts, and opportunities they need to grow their businesses.

What Was the Company's Request?

The company already had primary and backup data centers but wanted to improve its disaster recovery system. In particular, it aimed to enable automatic failover to backup infrastructure if the primary environment became unavailable, minimizing downtime and potential data loss.

Simply choosing an off-the-shelf technology product was not enough to address this challenge. The company needed to assess its existing infrastructure, compare different disaster recovery scenarios, and identify an architecture that would meet its specific business requirements.

How Did We Find a Solution?

First, the Kharkiv IT Cluster team analyzed the request and identified the specific expertise the company needed. This included experience in Disaster Recovery, automated failover between infrastructures, data center operations, and cloud environments.

We identified three potential partners among our community members who had relevant experience and could offer different approaches to solving the challenge.

As part of the BusinessLink project, the Kharkiv IT Cluster team arranged direct consultations between the company and the selected IT teams. This allowed the parties to discuss the technical requirements in detail, explore potential architectural solutions, and compare different approaches to backup infrastructure and automation.

What Was the Result?

Following three consultations, the company was able to evaluate the proposed approaches and select a technology partner with whom it plans to move forward with the implementation of the solution.

As a result, the business had the opportunity to communicate directly with three IT teams, compare their expertise, and identify a partner whose capabilities best matched its technical requirements.

This case demonstrates the practical value of the BusinessLink project: we helped structure the business need, identify technology teams with relevant expertise, and facilitate direct communication to find the most suitable solution.
