Intellias has sponsored the Ukrainian translation of the seventh version of the international project management standard Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK).

PMBoK is a handbook for project managers from all over the world. Based on this book, the international standard ISO 21500 and the American national standard ANSI / PMI 99-001-2008 were developed. It is the most wide-spread collection of project management knowledge used in more than 200 countries. More to that, PMBoK is key to the most common certification of project managers PMP (English Project Management Professional).

The seventh version of the book differs from the previous ones, since it is based not on processes but on principles. This edition drastically changes the book’s structure and approach to project management in general.

The seventh version of the PMBoK Guide is currently available in English, Arabic, French, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Chinese, and a Ukrainian version will be available in early 2022.

The translation was carried out by volunteers and experts from the NGO Institute of Project Management (PMI Ukraine Chapter) and the International Translation Service “Philin” with the sponsorship of Intellias.

«We have been negotiating with the parent organization Project Management Institute (PMI) for almost a year to get permission to translate the book into Ukrainian. The English version is very difficult to read, even for those who know the language well. Having the Ukrainian version, the number of people able to use the PMBoK Guide and implement its practices will grow accordingly. It will also lower the threshold for entering the profession, making available the world’s best knowledge for students and beginners. In the next three to four years, we expect to see an overall improvement in the Ukrainian project management quality», said Roman Reznikov, Vice President at Intellias, President at PMI Ukraine Chapter.

100 volunteer experts from all over the world took part in writing the standard. Roman Reznikov, an Intellias employee, was one of them.

«I had the honor of being one of the book’s editors. In general, this edition differs significantly from the previous ones. The prior guides developed evolutionarily, expanding the number of described processes and practices. The new edition is a complete rethinking of that concept, a fresh look at project management», says Roman Reznikov.

PMI Ukraine plans to release the first edition of the PMBoK Guide in the first quarter of 2022. Part of the edition will be donated to libraries of specialized educational institutions.
