Sometimes great stories don’t begin with grand plans — they begin with a simple need: to do your work better. This is how onPoint Studio was born in 2020 — a full-service web development studio creating fast, mobile-optimized, and visually engaging websites. Today, the company helps businesses around the world increase revenue by improving their websites.

The First Steps: A Small Office in Kharkiv and Big Ambitions

In 2020, Alex, CEO of onPoint Studio, was working as a freelancer. He realized that handling the workload alone would be challenging and decided to start building a team and opening a studio. The first members were two developers from Kharkiv — one of whom is still with onPoint today. Despite the challenging pandemic conditions, the studio had a clear vision from the start: helping businesses grow through improving and maintaining websites, online stores, and e-learning platforms.

The initial projects varied — from simple WordPress websites to large-scale eCommerce projects and automation systems. Alongside these projects came the first challenges: how to build processes, establish communication, and create a stable financial model. Often, the team had to work with legacy code, fixing other people’s solutions or starting from scratch.

For onPoint, Kharkiv became more than just the first office. The city — with its strong IT community, resilience, and determination — shaped the company’s culture: don’t complain, solve challenges.

Even during the war, the team did not stop: they adapted to remote work, retained clients, and continued to grow.

From Intuition to Systematic Approach

Step by step, intuitive decisions began to evolve into a systematic approach. In 2025, onPoint Studio celebrates its fifth anniversary, having grown from a small group of developers into a fully-fledged organization with clear processes, structures, and interaction rules.

The changes happened in three key areas:

  • ApproachesonPoint Studio moved from chaotic projects to structured processes: clear and consistent delivery workflows, transparent hiring and onboarding processes, financial control, and a clear bonus system.
  • Structure — the team expanded to include PMs, designers, QA specialists, and developers, with defined roles and document access. Corporate policies on vacations, client communication, and internal development standards were established. Finance, HR, and Sales became separate units, with information flow between them streamlined.
  • Clients — from small projects and a handful of large clients to significant contracts in healthcare, education, non-profit, e-commerce, and news media across Ukraine, the US, and Europe. The team developed a clear ICP (ideal customer profile) and a multi-channel sales strategy.

Key Growth Milestones

Every mature company has its “growth points” — moments when everything changes. For onPoint, there were several:

  • First milestone — hiring the first Project Manager, marking the start of process organization and systematic client management.
  • Second milestone — splitting the delivery team into two units, allowing more projects to run simultaneously and improving service quality.
  • Third milestone — establishing HR and finance departments, creating internal recruitment, analytics, and planning systems, while the CEO could focus on strategy. This led to the first strategic session.

"When you build a strategy, your brain works very differently than when performing routine tasks," onPoint shares.

From that moment, the company began to focus not only on projects but also on its development trajectory.

From First Clients to Strategic Partnerships

The first significant projects were for eAssist Dental Solutions — essentially the company’s starting point. Over the years, nearly all team members contributed to these solutions.

Equally important was HR for Health — the first client acquired through a recommendation. This was the moment when it became clear: the studio wasn’t just being hired; it was being recommended.

onPoint Studio is not isolated in its world. They collaborate with SEO agencies, designers, and marketers, providing full technical implementation. Additionally, they offer outsourcing and outstaffing services for other web studios needing reliable technical support.

The team actively participates in events like IT Arena and communities on Upwork and LinkedIn — sharing experience, building partnerships, and creating new opportunities.

Where Is onPoint Studio Heading Next?

onPoint Studio has long outgrown the role of a simple web studio. It is now a tech team that thinks like a business partner. In the coming years, the company plans to:

  • deepen DevOps expertise for WordPress;
  • implement AI solutions in projects — from chatbots to automation systems;
  • develop SaaS products for B2B;
  • expand its outstaffing services.

In five years, they envision themselves as the best WordPress studio with a reputation as a reliable partner for mid-sized and large businesses in the US and EU, with a strong development team and proprietary services that enhance clients’ business models.

onPoint Studio is a story of growth, risk, and people who do not take the easy path. Because when your mission is not just writing code but helping other businesses grow, you don’t stand aside. You are — on point.
