Kharkiv’s youth continue to assert their dominance on the international stage. Team KoRoVaI, comprising students from the Department of Software Engineering at Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (NURE), has secured an absolute victory in the global 24-hour extreme programming marathon — IEEEXtreme 19.0.
About the Competition and Participants
IEEEXtreme is a world-renowned 24-hour programming marathon held under the auspices of the IEEE. This year’s installment proved to be one of the most massive in the event's history, featuring over 9,000 teams hailing from more than 70 countries. The tournament is organized by the IEEE, the world’s leading professional community for engineering and technological innovation.
The hallmark of IEEEXtreme is its grueling format: participants are given exactly 24 hours to solve a series of complex algorithmic challenges in real-time. This demands not only peak coding proficiency but also the mental fortitude to maintain focus and productivity throughout the entire 24-hour stretch, all while demonstrating seamless team synergy.

Ukraine was represented by team KoRoVaI, whose members are students at NURE. Over the course of a full day and night, the team tackled intricate algorithmic problems, showcasing both profound technical expertise and remarkable endurance.

The Synergy of Academia and Industry
The team's success was built upon the robust academic foundation provided by NURE and bolstered by support from industry leaders. EPAM facilitated the students' participation. Such collaboration between the private sector and academia provides young specialists with the essential resources to evolve and allows them to test their mettle against top-tier universities from the USA, Europe, and Asia.
