02 March 2026
On February 24, 2026, Kharkiv IT Cluster held its first online meeting with representatives of Santa Clara County (California, USA) — the heart of Silicon Valley.
This is the beginning of a dialogue between two tech ecosystems — Ukrainian and American — connecting universities, businesses, innovative companies, and civic initiatives.
Why Santa Clara?
Santa Clara County is home to over 1.9 million people and is a global tech hub where Apple, Google, Intel, and hundreds of other innovative companies are headquartered.
But it's not just about the brands. The county is known for its entrepreneurial culture, institutional openness, and strong citizen diplomacy. These values — partnership, practicality, focus on results — resonate with the Kharkiv IT Cluster community.
Kharkiv is a city with deep engineering and university traditions, a strong IT ecosystem, and hands-on experience working and living under high uncertainty. Despite the war, the focus here remains on growth, international markets, and tech solutions for rebuilding.
Areas of cooperation
During the first meeting, the parties outlined directions where collaboration can deliver measurable results:
- Digital transformation — sharing practices for building convenient and secure digital solutions for communities.
- Resilience and crisis preparedness — tech-driven approaches to risk management and emergency response.
- Economic recovery through innovation — engaging businesses in joint projects and opening new markets for Ukrainian companies.
- Education and youth exchanges — partnerships between universities, student communities, and research centers.
- Social initiatives — including programs to support and reintegrate veterans through education and tech opportunities.
The goal is not declarations — it's building a framework for concrete joint projects, from expert exchanges to pilot programs.
What this means for Kharkiv's IT ecosystem?
For Kharkiv IT Cluster, which brings together over 1,035 companies, this dialogue means:
- direct access to one of the world's strongest tech ecosystems;
- opportunities to scale Ukrainian solutions globally;
- new partnerships for business, education, and R&D;
- stronger international recognition for the community.
Kharkiv shows that even in wartime, the city is not just a place to rebuild — it's a source of innovation and partnership. The dialogue with Silicon Valley is about shared values, long-term cooperation, and practical results that work for people and communities on both sides of the ocean.
