More than 100 school students passionate about mathematics and computer science spent two weeks together in Ostroh — learning, competing, finding creative solutions, and exploring the world of technology.
It all happened at the 20th anniversary edition of the “LOL” Summer School. Kharkiv IT Cluster has been supporting “LOL” for several years, helping its participants discover the tech industry and the opportunities it offers. Here is what we did this year and why working with school students remains an important part of Kharkiv IT Cluster’s educational initiatives 👇
What is “LOL”?
“LOL” is a summer school focused on mathematics and computer science, organized by the QBit Youth Society and the Kobra Center for Classical Education for school students who want to deepen their knowledge of STEM and programming while growing alongside peers who share their interests.
In 2026, the school celebrated its 20th edition. Participants gathered in Ostroh to spend part of their summer immersed in mathematics, programming, team challenges, and communication with like-minded peers.
Our goal is to show that IT goes far beyond programming
For Kharkiv IT Cluster, participating in “LOL” is an opportunity to work with school students who are already interested in mathematics and computer science and show them where these interests can take them — in technology, education, and their future careers.
This year, we explored algorithms and their role in the digital services we use every day, watched The Secret Rules of Modern Living: Algorithms together, and challenged participants’ logic, creativity, knowledge, and quick thinking with the Brain2Brain team IT quiz. More than 100 school students took part in Kharkiv IT Cluster’s activities.
Why does Kharkiv IT Cluster work with school students?
Interest in technology often begins long before university or a first job. School is where an interest in mathematics or programming can grow into first projects, competitions, team challenges, and eventually a clearer understanding of which path a young person wants to pursue.
That is why Kharkiv IT Cluster works with young people at different stages of their journey: school students, university students, prospective applicants, and young professionals.
Through our educational projects, we introduce young people to different areas of IT, engage them in practical activities, and create more opportunities to connect with the tech industry. Together with companies and educational partners, we also help bridge the gap between what young people learn today and the knowledge and skills they will need in their future careers.
Let’s invest in education together
Developing the next generation of professionals is one of the areas where Kharkiv IT Cluster brings the tech industry and education together.
Companies can contribute to educational projects, share their teams’ expertise, introduce young people to tech careers and technologies, and support environments where school and university students can learn and grow.
If your company also wants to invest in tech education and create more opportunities for young people, join Kharkiv IT Cluster and our educational initiatives.
