Tech Labs: Computer Laboratories for Schoolchildren Opened in Kharkiv
Two modern Tech Labs computer laboratories have launched in Kharkiv — at Lyceum No. 163 and Gymnasium No. 71. These are spaces where students can learn the basics of programming, explore the IT field, and develop digital skills.
The initiative was implemented by Kharkiv IT Cluster and the Star for Life Ukraine Foundation with the support of Sigma Software, Jabil, and the Kharkiv City Council’s Departments of Education and Digital Transformation.
Why is this important?
A lack of modern equipment and practical tools in education creates a gap between what students learn in school and the real needs of the job market.
Tech Labs aim to bridge this gap. The labs are equipped with hardware that allows students to get hands-on experience in programming and develop essential digital skills that will benefit them in the future.
First Programming Experience in the New Labs
At the Tech Labs opening event, students got acquainted with programming languages like Python and Java through workshops led by Sigma Software developers Andrii Reva and Dmytro Bolharov. This gave students a chance to try coding for the first time, ask questions, and get a closer look at what IT is.
The event was supported by Sigma Software CEO and Chairman of the Star for Life Ukraine Foundation, Valerii Krasovsky.
The initiative is centered around the idea of accessible digital education for schoolchildren, helping them see the prospects in IT.
«These labs are not just rooms with equipment. They are an opportunity for children to gain real knowledge and take their first steps into the IT industry. Our goal is to help them see the possibilities, believe in themselves, and start their journey towards a future they will create.
Today, we are opening two labs — in the shelters of Kharkiv Lyceum No. 163 and Gymnasium No. 71. Students of Lyceum No. 119 will also be able to join the classes in the open labs,» said Valerii Krasovsky.
What’s next?
Tech Labs are part of a shared mission: to create equal access to digital education and lay a strong foundation for a new generation of IT professionals who will shape the future not only of Kharkiv but of Ukraine as a whole.
Kharkiv IT Cluster continues to unite the efforts of business, education, and the civic sector for the development of youth.
