The savED charitable foundation and EPAM have begun renovating the shelter at Pechenizky Lyceum in the Kharkiv region.
The savED charitable foundation, with the support of EPAM Ukraine, has launched the renovation of the shelter at the municipal institution “Pechenizky Lyceum named after H. Semyradsky” under the Pechenizka Village Council in the Kharkiv region. As a result, more than 400 local children will be able to return to quality in-person education.
Pechenizka community is located in the southeastern part of the Kharkiv region. In the early months of the war, this area endured partial occupation and heavy shelling, which damaged the region’s main educational institution. Today, the community has over 7,900 residents, including 998 children.
“Kharkiv region is one of the areas where, due to security concerns, children have been unable to study in person and interact with their peers for three years. To address this, our team set up the ‘Vulyk’ education center based on part of the shelter at Pechenizky Lyceum. Together with EPAM Ukraine, we will expand the space, making it accessible to even more students,” commented Oleksandra Shevchenko, Head of Partnerships at savED.
With the support of EPAM Ukraine, the savED foundation has initiated major renovations of the basement at Pechenizky Lyceum. This will enable even more children in the Kharkiv region to return to in-person learning and resume their educational journey in a safe environment.
“Children cannot wait out the war to catch up on their studies or relive their childhood with in-person learning and peer interaction. We often hear that wars are won by technology. In reality, they are won by educated nations. This future education is being laid down right now in such learning spaces across the country, thanks to our defenders. We are honored to partner with savED in restoring access to education,” said Dmytro Yakymets, Head of ESG Programs at EPAM Ukraine.
The partnership between EPAM Ukraine and savED is long-standing and consistent. Previously, EPAM volunteers created a website for the foundation to raise funds for educational recovery. This year, EPAM allocated 600,000 UAH to set up six centers in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region, creating safe, comfortable, and motivating learning spaces for both children and teachers.
