Kharkiv IT Cluster: Rebooting technical education in Kharkiv

Categories:

Kharkiv IT Cluster has launched an ambitious project that will reshape the future of Kharkiv — the creation of secure educational environments. With the support of the city council, Kharkiv Office of Reforms, and leading IT companies, we have united efforts to reboot technical education. We are investing in the city’s future, aiming to strengthen its status as an education leader and ensure safe learning conditions.

Education in numbers:

  • Before the full-scale invasion, 300,000 students from Ukraine and other countries studied in Kharkiv. Today, only 120,000 remain.
  • There are currently 70 higher education institutions, including 17 universities and 9 academies.
  • 108,000 schoolchildren study in Kharkiv schools, with 56,000 currently in the city.
  • Over the past 2.5 years, 713 educational institutions in the region have been damaged or destroyed.

«Quality education is scarce. Therefore, our first priority is to create safe educational environments where every child can unleash their potential without limits or obstacles», — believes Olga Shapoval, Executive Director of Kharkiv IT Cluster.

About the project:

Imagine a Kharkiv where every student has access to state-of-the-art and secure educational spaces, free from developmental constraints. This is our goal, and we are determined to achieve it! We aim to restore offline education in Kharkiv by creating innovative and protected university spaces.

Goal: Raise one million dollars to bring this ambitious project to life.

Objective: Open 10 secure educational environments in Kharkiv universities.

Achievement: We’ve already taken the first step — in partnership with EPAM Ukraine, we’ve opened a shelter at Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (KhNURE), where prospective students could take entrance exams, and from the new academic year, students will commence offline studies.

Want to be part of the change? Everyone can join our initiative.

Invest in the future of Kharkiv’s education together!
