Kharkiv IT Cluster has launched a pilot project, “IT Disciplines Certification System,” with the support of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance. Over 25 IT companies, experts from six universities in Kharkiv, and representatives from the National Agency participated in the project’s development.

The project is unique due to its approach to revising, updating, and monitoring the practical implementation of updated IT disciplines under the supervision of IT company experts.

What Problems Does the Project Solve?

• Misalignment between theoretical materials and teaching methods for future junior specialists with the actual needs of IT employers.
• Lack of an effective and transparent system of collaboration between the private and public sectors in IT specialist education.
• Low skill levels among IT discipline graduates.
• The insufficient number of practitioner specialists among educators and the absence of a system for experience exchange.

Project Goal

To create the necessary conditions ensuring that the knowledge, abilities, and skills of 100% of IT graduates align with the requirements of IT companies for junior specialists and meet the demands of the job market.

Pilot Project Results

• Improved quality of content and teaching methods for IT disciplines (knowledge/skills volume and student satisfaction).
• Updated IT discipline content (aligned with IT company specialists’ recommendations).
• Increased practicality of IT disciplines (students will be able to effectively tackle practical tasks from IT companies after completing the courses).
