This is why Kharkiv IT Cluster and IT4Life have contributed to the creation of the city’s Situation Center—a technological tool that monitors real-time events and coordinates the actions of emergency services to ensure the safety of Kharkiv’s residents.
What Is the Situation Center?
The Situation Center is a cutting-edge solution that allows real-time monitoring of events in Kharkiv and rapid response to any threats.
In the reality of regular shelling and airstrikes, such tools are vital for saving lives. The center is equipped with video surveillance systems providing live coverage of the city, data integration, and communication channels between emergency services.
How Does It Work?
The system identifies and responds to threats within minutes. Surveillance cameras provide full coverage of the city, while backup power sources ensure uninterrupted operation even during power outages. This has significantly reduced the response time of emergency services, a critical factor during attacks.
How Was It Created?
In 2024, on the initiative of the Kharkiv City Council and with the support of IT4Life and leading tech companies from Kharkiv IT Cluster—such as Altexsoft, Telesens, WEBSPARK, CLOUD WORKS, IT-Jim, ITRDev, Seven Pro, CodeTiburon, SDA, ЕРАМ, Anyforsoft, Insart—and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), expert and financial assistance was provided to implement the Situation Center in Kharkiv.
Key areas of work included:
- securing the purchase of essential technical resources;
- implementing monitoring systems and integrating video surveillance cameras;
- establishing reliable communication channels for coordinating emergency services.
