September 4, 2019 Startup Grind Kharkiv organized the first meeting with the  GitLabCo-Founder Dmytro Zaporozhets. Kharkiv IT Cluster supported the event.

Olga Goldina, Head of the Startup Grind in Kharkiv, “Our main goal was to create a community for startups. I felt the difficulty of being a startup in Ukraine. Therefore, in order to improve ourselves and not to have such difficulties, we decided to initiate the Startup Grind in Kharkiv. I choose to do something rather than to wait.”

Dmitry was invited to the event as a Co-Founder of the GitLab. It is the first startup, founded by a Ukrainian citizen,  dubbed Unicorn. Who can be cooler? He is the person, able to demonstrate to beginners that anything is possible!”

Dmitry was born in Kharkiv, graduated from Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University and… stayed in Ukraine, despite the fact that his company was evaluated at $ 2.7 billion, and his clients are – NASA, CERN,, SpaceX, IBM , Expedia, Nasdaq, Ticketmaster, Sony, and Intel.

“I left Ukraine in  2013 and came back. Why? I felt good here! Here are my friends.” says Dmitry.

Ukraine is full of ideas and enthusiasm. So, why startups have rarely become a business in our country?

Dmitry answered, “Each startup begins with an idea, how to solve a specific problem. What do you need? At the beginning you need to work for free for your startup.

Ukrainian startups lack faith at the result. If you believe in your idea it will work!”

Don’t be afraid to take the first step. It’s hard, but cool!” Dmytro Zaporozhets says.
