Kharkiv IT Cluster joins the open letter initiated by European DIGITAL SME Alliance in support of the EuroStack initiative

What is EuroStack?

EuroStack is an initiative aimed at creating an independent European digital infrastructure. It brings together technology companies, associations, and experts to develop open, secure, and competitive solutions in cloud services, software, and semiconductor technologies.

The goal is to reduce Europe’s dependence on foreign (non-European) digital technologies and strengthen its technological sovereignty. The coalition includes nearly 100 signatories, including leading technology companies, associations, and enterprises.

Why Does Europe Need This?

The letter, addressed to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Executive Vice President Virkkunen, warns about Europe’s critical dependence on foreign digital technologies. Without urgent action, the continent risks losing control over key digital infrastructure within just three years.

Key Demands of the Initiative

Industry leaders emphasize the need for

  • Stimulating demand for European solutions – Implementing public procurement policies that support European digital developments and attract private investment in local technologies.
  • Building a reliable European supply chain – Supporting open-source solutions, unified standards, and interoperable infrastructure to foster a competitive digital environment.
  • Developing secure and sovereign cloud services – Establishing certification standards to ensure the confidentiality of European data.
  • Strategic financing of digital infrastructure – Allocating EU funds to high-market-value projects, including quantum computing and semiconductor manufacturing.

The Role of Kharkiv IT Cluster

As part of the European technology community, Kharkiv IT Cluster supports the EuroStack initiative and is ready to contribute to developing concrete steps toward digital independence. Ukrainian IT companies are already key players in cybersecurity, software development, and innovation, and we see great potential for active participation in shaping Europe’s technological future.
