IT ClusterThe Kharkiv IT Cluster, with the support of the Better Market Connectivity project — funded by the European Union and the German government, and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in partnership with Civitta, Market Access, Giraffe Consulting — has successfully led a delegation of Ukrainian IT companies to Helsinki and Stockholm. This initiative gave our community members an invaluable opportunity to forge international partnerships, explore cutting-edge innovation hubs, and present Ukraine’s technological excellence on a global stage.

Bridging Markets in Finland
Business Finland: Laying the Groundwork for Cooperation
The delegation’s journey began in Helsinki with a visit to Business Finland HQ. There, key Finnish associations and companies welcomed Ukrainian businesses. The event included networking opportunities with members of the Finnish Startup Community, especially those focused on EdTech, and a dedicated pitching session for Ukrainian IT companies. Engaging with Business Finland provided insight into Finland’s business landscape, potential collaboration avenues, and mutual areas of interest.
University of Helsinki: Innovation and Academic Synergy
A highlight of the Finnish visit was the meeting at the University of Helsinki. There participants explored academic collaboration and research-driven innovation. The discussion centered on the BIOSPHERE Incubator Program, which supports startups at the intersection of academia and industry, helping to transform research breakthroughs into viable business solutions.
Maria 01: The Nordic Startup Powerhouse
One of the most exciting stops was Maria 01, the largest startup hub in the Nordics, often dubbed “the Silicon Valley of Helsinki.” Home to over 1,500 entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators, Maria 01 provides a fertile ground for startups to scale and connect with venture capital firms, corporate partners, and tech pioneers. The Ukrainian delegation engaged in a workshop and networking session designed to facilitate direct collaboration between Finnish and Ukrainian tech businesses.
Expanding Networks in Sweden
TechArena: The Hub of Scandinavian Tech Excellence
The delegation’s arrival in Stockholm was marked by participation in TechArena, one of the most prestigious technology conferences in Scandinavia. TechArena gathers startups, scale-ups, investors, and industry leaders to showcase emerging innovations and discuss the future of tech. Ukrainian companies had the opportunity to engage in B2B meetings, present their expertise, and explore partnerships with international firms.
SISP: Connecting with Swedish Incubators & Science Parks
A strategic meeting with Swedish Incubators & Science Parks (SISP) provided insights into Sweden’s support structures for innovative companies. With over 60 incubators and science parks under its umbrella, SISP plays a crucial role in fostering startup growth and international collaboration.
Fostering Dialogue with Tech Sverige and the National Board of Trade
Further strengthening ties between Ukraine and Sweden’s tech sectors, Kharkiv IT Cluster representatives participated in high-level discussions with Tech Sverige. This is Sweden’s leading industry association for tech companies. A meeting with the National Board of Trade Sweden explored ways to enhance business connectivity and support Ukrainian companies in entering the Swedish market.
