On September 24, 2024, a special event occurred in San Jose, California — the Ukrainian flag-raising ceremony at the Santa Clara County government building. This event symbolized the international community’s support for Ukraine and a testament to global solidarity in these challenging times for our country.
Kharkiv IT Cluster was honored to be part of this extremely important moment. Together with members of the Ukrainian Parliament, we proudly raised the Ukrainian flag, demonstrating the resilience, unity, and strength of both our IT community and Ukraine as a whole.
The ceremony was attended by Alex Kholodenko, Member of the Supervisory Board of Kharkiv IT Cluster, and Joshua Bower-Saul, Kharkiv IT Cluster’s Ambassador to the UK and EU.
Also present were Ukrainian MPs: Serhiy Koleboshyn, Ihor Marchuk, Anna Purtova, Serhii Soboliev, and Oleksii Ustenko.
“The Kharkiv IT Cluster is honored to participate in this ceremony. It is not only a privilege but also an opportunity to showcase the strength of Kharkiv’s IT community and its critical role in Ukraine’s economic future,” said Oleksandr Medovoi, Head of the Supervisory Board of Kharkiv IT Cluster.
“We are proud to represent Kharkiv and our IT community at such a significant event. Despite the difficulties our country has faced, we remain united in our efforts to strengthen ties with international partners and open new opportunities for Ukrainian companies,” said Alex Kholodenko as he departed from Kharkiv to join the ceremony.
During the visit, we also met with local authorities and technology industry leaders to discuss potential areas of collaboration in fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and skills development crucial for Ukraine’s rebuilding efforts. We are hopeful for long-term partnerships and mutual support between our regions.
This event became a symbol of the deepening relations between Kharkiv and Santa Clara County, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with international companies and investors committed to supporting Ukraine’s recovery and development.
