Kharkiv IT Cluster Participated in the Organization of the All-Ukrainian Workshop of Informatics Supervisors
IT ClusterExecutive Director of Kharkiv IT Cluster Vynohradska Nataliia took part in the All-Ukrainian Workshop of Supervisors (administrators) of classrooms for Informatics in regional institutions of postgraduate education “Challenging Issues of Teaching Informatics at Primary School: Modeling, Algorithm Construction, Programming”. Nataliia delivered presentation of Kids2IT project to the participants, which included training activities for the pupils of 8-11 forms and teachers of Informatics, as well as a course of profession-oriented workshops at schools of Kharkiv city and region.
The All-Ukrainian Workshop of Supervisors is organized by Kharkiv Academy of Continuing Education under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Institute of Modernization of Educational Content, the Department of Education and Science of Kharkiv Regional State Administration. The purpose of the Workshop is to increase the level of participants’ knowledge in the field of information technology, exchange the experience and present the best practices in the field of school education. The main subject matter is how to “digitize” lessons, improve computer skills of teachers and engage pupils into studying process using digital technologies.
The event was sponsored by Kharkiv IT Cluster and Nix Solutions Company. Company representatives addressed the supervisors with a presentation of their educational initiatives. In addition to their own achievements, they spoke about priority directions of IT-industry development and IT-specialists training. On the second day of the workshop, the participants visited the office of the Company. Nix Solutions is the largest Kharkiv IT-company with its office located in the center of the city, it is the best platform to be wrapped up in the world of information technology and understand how the industry is arranged.
Due to the efforts of the organizers and sponsors, the first day of the workshop ended in a festive atmosphere within the walls of Semen Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics, a partner of Kharkiv IT Cluster. The participants had dinner there, at which they were able to discuss all the received information.
Vynohradska Nataliia told the participants about the difference between professional associations and clusters, gave a brief overview of clusters in Ukraine, described the scheme of work of Kids2IT project and provided results of activity in 2015 and the first quarter of 2016. Let us recall that we have already implemented a number of initiatives, the most large-scale among which became on-site and off-site training course “Basics of Programming” on DOTS platform under the leadership of Mykola Arzubov and profession-oriented workshops at schools. Our results are: more than 2000 Kharkiv pupils were trained, 25 volunteers visited over 20 schools, more than 1500 pupils of Kharkiv city and region became acquainted with IT-industry.
Nataliia answered questions and gave some advice to interested members of Khmelnytskyi and Sumy regions on organization of work with pupils within the Cluster and the need for representatives of education to seek a dialogue with businesses in their regions. We hope that our successful projects will find response in other cities of Ukraine either!
